St. Hilary’s has always nurtured a supporting Men’s Group and the present Society was revitalised during the incumbency of the Rev. Canon W. Stanley Walker. Since the Parish Hall in Wallasey Village was sold in 1990 the Men’s Society accepted the offer to meet in the Old Wallaseyan’s Club in Grove Road.
This move to a warmer and more comfortable location not only cemented a tenuous attendance in a draughty hall but proved to be an attraction for more members and invited speakers. Now members could sit and talk after each meeting and share a glass of a preferred beverage. Membership was opened to other church denominations and within its ranks and now shares a fellowship with men from the C of E, R.C. and United Reform persuasions, but under the banner of St. Hilary.
The Society offers a friendly convivial evening to those who enjoy listening to a speaker and sharing like interests.
The Society meets in St. Hilary’s Church at 2.15pm on the 3rd Monday of the months September to May and also attempts to organise outings to places of interest during the summer months.
ALL MEN ARE WARMLY WELCOMED.
